Her work is defined by the contrasting textures of raw stoneware, soft glass and timeless porcelain, while playing on the notion of balance and giving form to the elusive.

Born into a family where creativity rhymes with tradition, Amande Haeghen studied art history before devoting herself to ceramics. Halfway between design and sculpture, Amande's creations create atmospheres imbued with a distinctive softness. Feminine, sensitive and yet often derived from raw materials, her work is defined by the contrasting textures of raw stoneware, soft glass and timeless porcelain, while playing on the notion of balance and giving form to the elusive. We know her creations are inanimate objects, yet they seem alive and in motion... Each of these unique pieces captures a fleeting moment: a wind-blown veil, the reflection of a wave, the expansion of a glass bubble, the creak of wood.

The year 2023 marked a turning point in her work with materials, as, in a move towards self-sufficiency and following more than 2 years of research and experimentation, her new sculptures were born, highlighting new processes and treatments for glass and ceramics.  The abandonment of glazing in favor of the reuse of glass shavings to recreate a palette of infinite colors with aspects reminiscent of onyx. This "glass onyx" adorns the sculptures, giving them the robust fragility that comes from combining glass and earth.
