Inspired by the industrial heritage that surrounds her, Ana Paula has created her brand of sustainable lamps, shining a new light on historic woolen yarns.
Her one-of-a-kind series are handmade crochet lamps using woolen yarns produced in the 70s. In this project, the traditional materials and techniques selected by Ana Paula are transformed into contemporary designs that reflect her awareness of sustainability.
Ana Paula Almeida was born in Guimarães, but has always lived and studied in Covilhã. She is a university professor at the Chemistry Department of the University of Beira Interior and a textile author at heart. From an early age she showed an enthusiasm and passion for traditional handcraft.
