Constantly reinterpreting wood as a material, his approach is both experimental and deeply rooted in heritage.

Diogo Amaro is an architect and cabinet maker based in Porto, whose work blurs the boundaries between design and craft. After years in architecture, he immersed himself in traditional woodworking, training under master cabinet makers at FRESS. His dedication to craftsmanship led him to international experiences, including the Homofaber event in Venice and a workshop with Japanese master carpenter Takami Kawai at Domaine de Boisbuchet.

Constantly reinterpreting wood as a material, his approach is both experimental and deeply rooted in heritage. In 2024, he presented his debut collection CHICAGO during Lisbon Design Week. He is currently developing MATERIA, a collection shaped by the unique atmosphere of his workshop - an old barrel maker’s space - using locally sourced chestnut, oak, and cork. Through this collection, Amaro continues to explore the dialogue between material, process, and contemporary design.
