Founded in Lisbon by Diogo Ferreira and Isac Coimbra, GRAU Cerâmica is a Portuguese ceramics brand shaped by their backgrounds in Design/Visual Culture and Architecture. Each GRAU piece is entirely handmade, from the initial kneading to the final firing, ensuring every object carries an exclusive personality. Balancing technical expertise with instinct, Diogo and Isac continuously experiment with clay, allowing for a dynamic interplay between tradition and innovation.
GRAU’s collections explore a refined palette of black, white, and terracotta clays, with and without glazing, often complemented by jute and rope details. Minimalist white stoneware accentuates form through contrast, while black stoneware, fired at high temperatures, achieves deep, rich tones. The warmth of terracotta - ranging from earthy oranges to intense reds - adds a grounded, organic feel. This interplay of materials and colors evokes a contemporary “new tribal” aesthetic, merging geometric precision with modern minimalism.
