Kukas views the relationship between the creator and the wearer as a form of mediation between the maker and the user in their daily life, whether the pieces are decorative or functional. In her own words: “I want my work to be a form of transient art, to serve a human function, mediating between the person who wears it and the outside world in which they live. This is the great fulfillment of my life, and I will work until the end with the same spirit.”
Kukas established her work in the 1960s as a pioneer in jewelry contemporary design in Portugal.
