Stéphane Mulliez has been living in Lisbon for almost 10 years. As visual artist and art collector, the Frenchwoman runs the La Junqueira Artists Residency there. It is in a former elementary school that she welcomes artists such as Pauline Guerrier, Kevin Rouillard, or Alice Guittard and also takes care of the work herself.
Being a visual artist, ceramics is part of her training at the Beaux-arts academy where she practiced sculpture and modeling.
When she moved to Portugal, she benefited from the know-how of local ceramic manufacturers and received additional training in a workshop in Lisbon for several years. Ceramics offers her an infinite world of forms and firing adds a challenge that she loves to explore.
For Lisbon by Design 2023 she is working on a project of wall ceramics and house necklaces.
Her intention is to propose a design where ceramics are treated as textile. Her pieces are simple and purified and each model is unique.
"I want my wall pieces to look like big down jackets and my necklaces to be real gems for the walls of the house!"
