For Joana Esteves, beauty lies in the transformation of parts into a whole, that can be raw, strong and fragile at the same time. Once this ransformation is made, our existence begins fully, in each thought and unique action, in our own imperfections, being aware of our place in the world.

Joana studied design at the Universidade de Belas Artes where she found an immediate attraction to different materials. Before the creation of Tosco, she has been working with different types of materials until cement came up and became her unique material of use.

Tosco Studio is a design studio which creates handcrafted art pieces. The products are handmade from start to finish, in the studio in Lisbon (Portugal) from a mixture of cement sand and natural pigments.

At Tosco, each object is unique. Each one, with its singularities, details, and imperfections, lives in perfect harmony in a celebration between two opposite sides - the rough and the polished.

Tosco was created 3 years ago by Joana Esteves in her garage and has now pieces all over Europe and New York.
